Culturunners San Francisco

June - August 2016

As part of the Culturunners US tour, GENERA#ION: Contemporary Art from Saudi Arabia, presented San Francisco’s first exhibition of contemporary art from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Aya was Executive Producer for the show which featured a cross-generational survey of 15 artists working at the center of the Islamic world. The show was hosted at Minnesota Street Projects, a new initiative at the forefront of San Francisco’s artistic community.

GENERA#ION marked the third stop on a multi-city Saudi artist’s tour of the United States, supported by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, a Saudi Aramco initiative. Several of the artists were invited to San Francisco to attend the opening as well as lead live performances. An artist panel discussion was chaired by one of America’s leading art writers Sarah Thornton and a special lunch was hosted for the CEO of Saudi Aramco and his team, as well as the former Director of the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture.
