The Moving Museum Istanbul

The Moving Museum Istanbul culminated with a two month exhibition held across 3 floors of the Sishane Otopark in the heart of Istanbul. Inhabiting the central halls of the vast carpark, and the public outdoor park, the exhibition spanned over 100,000 square feet and featured newly commissioned presentations by 46 artists and collectives. Several of the artworks went on to critical acclaim, including the Venice Biennale Golden Lion Award, as well artworks exhibited at Tate Modern and Whitechapel as part of group exhibitions.

Over 10,000 visitors attended over 2 months and a city wide and international marketing campaign resulted in over 100 press imprints and features in international publications.

Moving Museum Istanbul was supported by Founding Partner The Vinyl Factory in London as well as over 50 international partnerships and grants including The Mondriaan Foundation, Prohelvetia, French Institute, British Council, Swedish Embassy, OCA Norway, Arts Council England, Ontorio Arts Council and the Danish Arts Foundation.

The Moving Museum tears down institutional conventions. Carried by the two antithetical words of its name, the Moving Museum has, from the moment it was launched set out to challenge the Art world’s die-hard categories. It’s an “institution” without a collection, without a building. It’s an ever-moving platform where nothing of its kind was previous in place.”-
